Act 2 will be easy. Marry off kid#1 in October, sell the house and move somewhere warm!

Act 3 will be more difficult. My goal would be to find something FUN to do. Wouldn't it be great to work somewhere FUN?

I think I'll never understand that concern that people will be bored in retirement. I understand the idea that a job is necessary to actually pay for things to live, but as a way to prevent boredom? Never. Maybe I just had a more boring job than other people. It just got in the way of all the other things I wanted to do--so far, no boredom for me in retirement! There's ALWAYS something new to learn.

What a smart guy! However, unless he plans on doing a lot of traveling, at some point I expect he'll start getting bored. So what's his plan for Act 2?

I totally relate to your cousin's post! I retired at 44 and find life is so much cheaper than when I was working. My theory is that happiness is cheaper. In addition to the things he mentions (and this may be a girl thing), without the stress of a job, I NEVER feel the need for retail therapy. Old Navy clothes are cheaper than Ann Taylor. And when you are working, and you need something, you don't often have time to find the best deal, or figure out another alternative (like mowing the lawn yourself, painting your own house, cleaning your own house.) Most of our savings in retirement came without even trying!

I've noticed the same thing. My money goes farther, and I have some left over every month. I do what I want to and just love retirement!
