Eight Random Things About Moi
A meme, as you probably know, is a little quiz-like thing that bloggers answer in a post and then ask other bloggers to answer the same quiz.
I’m not a big memer, but occasionally I participate. This usually occurs on days when I am plum out of ideas (which is never).
Hattie, a blogger who lives in Hawaii (I’m envious), has asked me to list 8 Random Facts/Habits About Me, which is not to be confused with the Six Weird Things About Moi meme that I’ve already taken part in.
First, I’m gonna break the rules by not selecting anyone else to do this meme. So shoot me. Here we go:
- I love Indian food, but never tasted it until I was about 26.
- I was born on a Wednesday (”child of woe”).
- I grew up with 3 monkeys as pets.
- I gave up eating red meat at age 32 as a New Year’s resolution. You could say I went ‘cold turkey’.
- I used to be obsessively neat. Not so much anymore.
- I taught myself how to play a drum set when I was a kid.
- I often become extremely calm in the face of danger. (The drugs help.)
- I love entertaining at home and am planning a ‘Last Meal’ dinner party in which guests will bring one of the items they would most like to eat at their last meal.

I think I like Indian food too but didn’t have any until this decade. We had a nice Indian meal in Vancouver.

I love your comments, Rhea. Mokeys! Three of them. Wow.
Like you, I become extremely calm in the face of danger. I almost drowned when hit by a huge wave, and I calmly did what needed to be done to save my life. And Anvilcloud, I too have had an outstanding Indian meal in Vancouver, at Vij’s. Highly recommended.

Anvilcloud: What’s wrong with us? Are we sheltered?
Janet and Hattie: Yep. Three monkeys. Two squirrel monkeys and a woolley. Lot’s of hijinks. Hattie, glad you like the 8 things.

That party sounds fun. I’ll bring the wine.

I loooooove #8! I’m going to throw one of those parties – thanks for the idea!
(I’m not sure exactly what I’d have for my last meal, but it would probably be something that gives me tremendous heartburn. If I was going to die, anyway…)

Mist: That would be great!
Suldog: Please do throw one of these parties. I’ve been thinking of doing this for years. I swear I am doing it this fall. For my last meal, I would totally have a 16-oz. steak, well done. The hell with giving up red meat.

Three monkeys? WOW!
When I was a kid I wanted chimpanzees sooooo bad.
I guess it was from watching the Planet of the Apes movies and too much Lancelot Link Super Chimp shows on Saturday mornings.
LOVED Lacelot Link. It was a Get Smart spoof.

Very cool about learning to play the drums.
A vegie friend of mine swears that Tofu Pups are the best.

I love the idea of a last meal party! You’ll have to tell us what everyone brings.

Lois and Webmiz: You’ve persuaded me to write a full post on the monkey situation.
Cil: I love the drums. I was dissuaded from playing them by my mom who thought only boys played drums. A sad fact. I’ve had my share of Tofu Pups. They’re just OK.
Sari: I will!

[...] There. That wasn’t so bad. I’m still reticent to tag others, though I would like to tag KP but KP isn’t blogging (yet). Send me a comment if you want to be tagged. In the meantime, you can check out Rhea’s answers at The Boomer Chronicles. She didn’t tag anyone else either. [...]

[...] I came up with a great idea for a dinner party a few years ago: I’d invite my guests to bring one of the items they would most like to eat at their last meal. I’ve been intrigued by this idea for a long time. I decided about six weeks ago to finally have the dinner party this weekend, right after Halloween. It seemed like appropriate timing. [...]
