A Few Web Resources to Help You Care for Aging Parents
My hometown paper, the Boston Globe, ran a good story recently that included the names of several web-based aids for people who are caring for their aging parents. Check them out:
Caregiver Helper (caregiverhelper.com), a secure online community resource that houses information about medications being taken, emergency contacts, doctor’s appointments, and even the client’s favorite activities
Lotsa Helping Hands (lotsahelpinghands.com) offers an online calendar for organizing meals, appointments, and transportation
Care.com, which allows users to find caregivers by ZIP code
Parent Care Call (parentcarecall.com), which makes phone calls to remind those living alone when to take their medicine
Houseworks (house-works.com), which helps seniors live independently

Hey thanks! I was away this weekend visiting Vegas for the first time so I would’ve missed this valuable resources if you hadn’t blogged about it. In fact, the novelty of the posts is one of the things I like about reading BC.
I’ll just add a suggestion. Families who are trying to make tough decisions, resolve disputes, or even just figure out what to do next need help. I strongly recommend seeking out a family mediator or conflict coach.
These folks will help deal with charged emotions and ease strained relationships. Every state has an association for family mediators that can offer referrals. It just makes so much sense.

we need this type of care for my husband’s parents. House-Works looks perfect but it seems it’s only in Boston. Too bad, as it sounds perfect. I do have some info on organizations like this in New Jersey too but I liked the way this one presented itself.
