Popular Boston Radio-Show Host Ages, and No One Has Fired Him Yet. What Gives?
There is a guy on Boston radio who hosts the most popular morning show in the city. Everyone in Boston recognizes his name. The amazing thing is, he’s been at the job since 1981 and he’s pretty old now. And no one’s fired him yet. His name is Matt Siegel (see photo). His show, “Matty in the Morning,” is KISS 108’s highest-rated program as well as the leading FM morning show in Boston. According to Arbitron ratings, the show has consistently ranked No. 1 with women 18-49 for the past 20 years.
Why hasn’t Matty been put out to pasture? Well, I’ve listened to him a few times recently and he’s hilarious. He’s up to date on stuff. And even when he’s talking about his upcoming colonoscopy, he’s funny. I hope this employment tale is a sign of things to come.

lol what Adam said
I remember Dale from AM radio in the early 70s and Matty, of course, was Charles Laquidara’s sidekick for awhile, also in the 70s.

Actually, Matt had the 10 AM shift on WBCN, following the big mattress, in the late 70’s. He also hosted a great show on Saturday nights in the late 70’s, early 80’s on Channel 5 called “5 All Night Live”. I can’t remember the name of his co-host, an attractive woman. It was an entertaining show; often he would interview acts that had performed earlier in the evening…I remember once the Pretenders had played at the Orpheum, and he interviewed Chrissy Hynde a few hours after the show had ended.

Yup, I remember “5 All Night”, too. That was the first place I ever heard Matt Siegel’s name. I listened to Dorman on WRKO in the early 70’s.

I remember him from the early 80’s when I USED to listen to that station. I hear a lot of women in their 20’s talking about how they would DO him if they could. What’s up with that?

Rhea – I don’t know the person you wrote about, but I do know that men improve with age – like good wine ! And star quality shows through whatever the age.
