Memorial Day Weekend: I’m Home Alone

It’s Memorial Day weekend and most people go away. Me? I’m having a staycation. I do wish I were going away but I didn’t really make any plans. Oh, well. I have to be in town anyway to get ready for my big birthday party. More on that next week…

But this weekend, here is what I’m considering doing:

Putting air in my bike tires and taking a ride
Rolling my coins
Ironing all of my linen shirts at once
Taking the dog somewhere special — the beach
Going down to Boston Harbor to take a walk
Reading The Cruelest Journey by adventure traveler Kira Salak

Sounds like a nice time to me! I’m working an 8-hour shift tomorrow, a 14-hour shift on Sunday, and a 12-hour shift on Monday. Doesn’t sound like much of a holiday weekend, does it?

However … I should be up in Boston next weekend visiting a blogging friend who moved up there from Connecticut. We’re planning on finding cheap stuff to do as that’s about all either of us can afford! Still, I’m looking forward to it as I just love Boston. I told her we had to include some historical sites and considering she’s not seen most of them up there, we should be able to find a few. Along with a cannoli or two!

Thanks, Linda, for putting things in perspective. I shouldn’t complain. Your weekend sounds crappy.
Boomie: Good. I wanted someone to feel sorry for me.

    BE CAREFUL ON YOUR BIKE!!!!!

I cannot believe how difficult and painful a nose dive off the old bike can be. After 2 trips to the ER and 24 hours in the hospital…this is fair warning!

Midlife: I was OK! I went about 15 miles today with no problems.

We’ve pretty much stopped traveling on holiday weekends. Hubby had to work on a grant today anyway. He gets more done when he’s the only one in the office.
