A Good, Long Walk Around Boston
I went out on this beautiful day and took an aimless walk around Boston. I ended up covering several miles, and some of them were amazing. I picked up an iced green tea at Faneuil Hall, but didn’t want to be around crowds too much, so I veered off onto the new-ish Rose Kennedy Greenway. I was blown away by it. Boston finally has a beautiful, European-style space where you can walk, bike, have lunch, sit by a nice fountain, or lie on the grass. For a city I’ve lived in for some 30 years, the Greenway makes the place seem new again. I know it took a very long time to pull it off, but all of the Greenway planners should be very proud of themselves. Then I went by the remains of the old James Hook Lobster Co., a venerable Boston landmark that burned down just a few weeks ago. Sad to see the burnt timbers and very little left of the place. Then I passed by Chinatown and one of my favorite old buildings, the Dainty Dot. Someone’s going to knock most of it down pretty soon and put up some godforsaken development, so it was like paying homage to the place one last time. Somebody stole the “A” from the Dainty Dot sign on the building, so now it reads “Dinty Dot.”
Then I returned to the spot where I started the walk. Most of the green tea was gone. I felt pretty good.

Kewl. We will be in Boston in July. I bought a bunch of Docker pants and got free airline tickets. (Boy I bet they are sorry now!) The agency that is handling the promotion is in Faneuil Hall. Is that different than the Faneuil Hall Marketplace?
(Have you thought about adding the plug-in so readers can subscribe to responses? It’s very handy.)

You’re going to have in Boston! By the way, readers can subscribe to a response by going to the page to comment and then looking for a gray box where it says “You can follow any responses to this entry through the RSS 2.0 feed.”

Faneuil Hall is a historic building, and Faneuil Hall Marketplace is a shopping area directly adjacent to the hall. The shopping area consists of three buildings, which are called North Market, Quincy Market, and South Market. Many people just call the whole thing “Quincy Market”.

I got to check out a little bit of the new Greenway when I was up in Boston last month visiting and I was quite impressed. Unfortunately it started to rain before we had a chance to really check out too much of it but the grass most definitely looked inviting! Next time I’m up that way, perhaps in July, I’d like to check it out again.

Sounds like a lovely city. I’ve wanted to visit Boston for years, but haven’t had the opportunity yet.
