Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, 44, Named to Republican Ticket
Governor of Alaska Sarah Palin, 44, has been named the Republican vice presidential nominee. I have to admit, I knew nothing about her. I had to go online to learn more. She sounds fascinating. Here are a few facts from a CNN report:
Palin is known for her support of drilling in the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge.
Her past occupations include commercial fishing company owner, outdoor recreational equipment company owner and sports reporter.
She is a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association
She fishes and hunts.
She was born in Idaho and is a longtime Alaskan.
Her husband is an oil production operator. They have five children.
She was born Feb. 11, 1964, just making the baby boomer generation.
Here’s a little video of Sarah Palin.
Remember, Friends Don’t Let Friends Vote Republican.

She sounds like a fascinating choice though I have to admit my first thought was WHO????

I think maybe the Republicans want to lose.

I actually breathed a sigh of relief when I read about McCain’s pick.
“Remember, Friends Don’t Let Friends Vote Republican.”
Ha – Love it

I’m thinking you’re right, Hattie.

I was totally insulted when, in today’s speech, she sited Hillary’s “18,000 cracks”, and said “the women of American are not finished yet”! How dare she try to ride on Hillary’s coat tails. As a long time supporter of Hillary, I do not see why any Hillary supporter would vote for Sarah Palin for VP. This is McCain’s bright idea of thinking intelligent Hillary supporters will vote for his ticket because he now has added a woman. Of course we would love to see a woman in this office, but pahleez….give us all a little more credit! Ugh… don’t get me started. I’ve been seething over her speech all day!

I just saw a woman on television who said the fact that Palin has five children qualifies her to be vice president and she wasn’t kidding.
Ack! That seems to be the paragon of the low information voter.

I wonder if he chose her as running mate just so there would be at least one person at the convention who could keep the crowd awake.

Good grief! I thought those remarks were insulting, too. Anyone who called his wife the c-word can’t have any respect for women. If you haven’t heard it, google McCain and that word, and you can read it. I have quite a vocabulary of profanity but draw the line at that word which is the worst thing to call a woman.
Palin sounds like another Dick Cheney in some ways. Here’s what a commenter said on my blog:
“Well, the new Hillary-alternative has an interesting story going on. Gov Palin fired her Public Safety Director, after he wouldn’t fire a state trooper – who happens to be Gov Palin’s ex-brother-in-law. McCain’s VP choice may be able to spell potato, but she doesn’t seem to understand abuse of power.”

Whew, sounds like a cat fight that seems to please the guys so much. Come on ladies, this is supposed to be a fair fight. I read up on Sarah Palin when her name first came up on ths potential VP list and she was my pick but I never dreamed McCain would select her. I strongly disagree with her on two issues, but I’m with her on the rest. Give her some time before you rush to judgement and whether she and McCain win the election or not, know she is our strongest representative of women as of yesterday.

How can anyone be for drilling offshore or in wildlife areas? This is crazy. This is just one more sign of how far we’ve slipped, and Palin, bless her pointed heart, sounds a slippery as the rest of them.

PS. In my comment above, I meant Palin sounds as slippery as the rest of the Republicans. (I’m not one of those “broken government” guys. It’s clear enough who’s responsible and who’s actually trying.)

McCain has just certified the White House for Obama and Biden hands down! I’m curious what Hillary Clinton has to say about his choice. After all, she had the audacity to quote Hillary in her speech after she called her a whiner during the primaries.
I’ll quote Hillary here:
No way – No How – No McCain!!

Yeah, Rob. How can you claim to love the outdoors and then be willing to drill and drill? It just never makes sense to me. We can curb our extravagant lifestyles and still enjoy life, and not at the expense of plundering every corner of the Earth.

Rhea,
Thanks for commenting on my site. This post has prompted me to write a bit about McStupid on my blog. Thanks for the inspiration!

When Palin referenced Hillary Clinton, I remembered Lloyd Bentsen’s response to Dan Quayle when he inadvertently compared himself to JFK… Bentsen: “I knew John Kennedy, and you sir are no John Kennedy.” Does Palin really think women will vote for their ticket just because she’s a woman? I can hardly wait for the VP debates.

Her anti-science and creationist beliefs would be enough for me to be against her right there, but she offers so much more! Everything about her is the opposite of what I believe in.
