The Miracle Spice that Fights Just About Every Disease

Alzheimer’s. Diabetes. Cancer. Arthritis. Did you know that a simple spice can help prevent these diseases? Turmeric, a staple in Indian cooking, is featured in curries, soups, and meat dishes, and is about as common in Indian cuisine as are salt and pepper in a Western diet. Curcumin — not to be confused with cumin — is the active chemical compound in tumeric. Asians have long used turmeric to treat various medical conditions. Researchers say that up to 12 grams of pure curcumin a day is non-toxic; one tablespoon of turmeric might contain up to a 1/4 gram of curcumin.
