I Am Typing this One-Handed

And not for the reasons you think! No, I fell on the ice today. Boston is getting its 137th snow storm this season. I was walking the pup and fell on the sidewalk. I sat there for about 10 minutes before I could get up again. My arm is not broken but sprained? It hurts. I typed this one-handed. Needless to say, be careful out there! Except if you are Australian, ’cause it’s summer there. Will not be posting much today. Instead, I will form a close relationship with a bag of ice.

    My sympathies.
I’ve slipped on ice while walking the dog–very scary and not fun.
Perhaps you can look through some seed catalogs and dream about spring.

Awwww, I’m sorry. You type better with one hand that I do with two. You sure your arm isn’t broken?
    Take care!

    oooo! Feel better, Rhea! xox

I fell a few years ago while also walking the dog. He stopped suddenly to do his business and caught me off guard. I thought I’d sprained my arm. 10 days later it wasn’t any better. I had broken my elbow and it had to be forced into a bent position to heal. What we must go through for our beloved pups!

Actually, the Australians need to be careful also if what I have been reading is accurate. We deal with falls on ice and they deal with heat stroke from 100+ temps. I do wish we had some middle ground on the weather.

Sorry to hear this, Rhea. R-I-C-E (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation.)

Loved the line about one-handed typing, by the way (but you knew I would.)

  7. janeywan Says:

You type pretty good for a one-handed. Hope you heal quickly.

  8. Rhea Says:

Suldog, that’s why they call you dog! RICE, thanks. I had to go online to find out what to do, but it’s RICE. You’re right.
Thanks, everyone, for these entertaining comments.

  9. jodi Says:

Hope that the ice is working that that you are doing better.

I broke my wrist a couple of years ago. There was one advantage. I had trouble eating with my left hand and I lost a lot of weight.

  11. Rhea Says:

Jan, cool. I am right-handed and my hand has been useless most of the day but now I can type with it tonight. My improvement is good, except for the dieting aspect.

  12. Cathy Says:

Take care. I fell 3x’s a couple of years ago. The older we are the longer it takes to heal. I’m so careful, but still…

    Be well.

  13. Emily Says:

Oh no! Our driveway was a sheet of ice this morning and I had to be very careful getting around on it.

I’m glad that your hand is doing better now.

  14. Janet Says:

Hope you recover soon. Sorry I snickered, but you know, you really did ask for it.

  15. Hattie Says:

We love our pets, but they can trip us up. My MIL broke her arm stumbling over our cat . My orthopedic surgeon friend says that pets are a major perpetrator of falls in older people. I’d be scared to go out walking on the ice after a bad fall I took once.

  16. Penny Cherubino Says:

Ouch! falling with my dog is one of my big fears. I took my hiking stick with me today and I was glad I did. We need bigger fines for icy sidewalks.

[...] this isn’t the 20-minute-long gynecological test. This was a bone scan. Since I fell on the ice a couple of weeks ago my arm still wasn’t feeling better. I went to the doctor and got it [...]
