What I Did in New York City (with photos)

I had a great time in New York City this weekend. Took the Fung Wah bus ($15 each way) and did the following:

Saw my brother

Met up with someone in Greenwich Village and strolled around and went for dinner at a French restaurant

Walked through Times Square at night

Thanked Mayor Bloomberg for closing off car traffic in Times Square

Stayed at the brand-new Fairfield Hotel. King-sized bed, very cozy

Sat on a lawn chair in the middle of Times Square and read the Wall Street Journal (click on photo below)

Went to Ripley’s Believe or Not

Went to the Second Avenue Street Fair and bought 2 pairs of sunglasses for $10

Walked through a lot of NYC neighborhoods, including the Upper East Side, Lower East Side (click on Katz’s deli photo below) Chinatown, the East Village, the West Village, midtown, Garment District (click on photo below of a giant Jewish guy sewing)

Ate a pretzel from a street vendor; also 2 hot dogs

Had a great time.

…and your bus didn’t catch on fire, flip end-over-end off a highway ramp, or lose a tire while going 75 mph on Rt. 95! How unusual for a FungWah ride.

Glad you had a fun time despite the boring bus ride!

Sounds like an excellent birthday adventure. :)

You lived through a trip on the Fung Wah? Mazel Tov! I’m petrified of that bus after all the bad press. But it sure is cheap! Sounds like a really fun trip. I’m jealous!

That sounds like so much fun. And for a $30 round trip. Glad that you had a good time (and thanks for answering my email).

Happy Birthday from one Gemini to another, Rhea!! Sounds like you had a fabulous time in NYC. It’s one of my favorite places – there’s so much to do and always so little time:-)

Brian, I took Fung Wah and lived. But they take like a half hour rest stop, which makes you get to nYC so late. I don’t like that.
    I did, Seamus!
Margalit, most of their buses do get to NYC.
    Jodi, it was great.
    Karen, happy bdy!
