BloggingBoomers Carnival #128

I’m hosting the 128th edition of the BloggingBoomers Carnival, a collection of fascinating or just helpful links for middle-aged people. Read on:

If the recession is bringing your chicks back to the family nest, don’t be surprised if they revert to throwing tantrums and neglecting their responsibilities, says Contemporary Retirement.

According to a recent AARP survey, nearly two-thirds of American women ages 40 to 79 have experienced long-term job loss, divorce, death of a spouse or a major illness or disability. The reality is that most of us will face a crisis in our lifetime. How do we prepare for that? The Midlife Crisis Queen knows!

Andrea J. Stenberg at the Baby Boomer Entrepreneur shares what trying to get a 2-year old to obey has to do with improving your marketing message.

So Baby Boomer says that reducing anxiety during the economic recession is important for the “mental and physical health of boomers.” However, realizing that you get what you tolerate can be important in handling today’s challenges.

Along with the aches and pains of getting older, we gain a lot of wonderful things as we age. From more confidence and not caring what people think to not sweating the little stuff. Read about it at LifeTwo.

They say the legs are the last to go, so why not update your wardrobe this fall with a great skirt. For advice on what’s in style and what works for boomers, check out the Glam Gals’ post at Fabulous after 40.

They say you can’t go home again — that memories are always better than reality — but when Barbara Weibel at Hole In The Donut revisited Chicago’s famous Palmer House Hotel she found it to be just as stunning as the first time she stepped through the door, some 40 years ago, for her senior prom.

In the midst of wondering if we’ll all get so sick of talking about health insurance that we’ll really get sick, Janet at Gen Plus, shares a compelling comment, regarding our basic rights to goodhealth, from one of her readers

This summer Nancy at VABOOMER befriended a skunk and cat. So how was your summer? Tell Vaboomer.com.

Finally, here at The Boomer Chronicles we want to see everyone in the U.S. have access to health care and to see health care be separated from one’s job.

  6. Sandy Wheeler Says:

Enjoyed the article! I am 50 something and fight the notion that I am “old” or somehow “done” with life and looking good. Give me bright colors, classic lines, and I am good for at least another 50 years! In my business of offering great cruises and other pampering experiences to women and particularly boomers, I battle the mindset there too. Women deserve a great vacation and in the company of other like minded women. Yeah women!
