McDonald’s Closes Up Shop — in Iceland
I learned this morning that all three McDonald’s locations will close in Iceland because it has become too expensive for the franchiser to operate them now that the country’s financial structure has collapsed. I visited Iceland a few years ago and thought it was an amazing place with strong communities and a very healthy, green way of life. McDonald’s has no place there. I volunteer with the Boston-based organization Corporate Accountability International, which is currently running the Value (the) Meal campaign to educate the world about all of the dangers surrounding fast food. Check out their site. I guarantee you will learn a lot.

while I understand the value of a McDonald’s meal is in question, you are missing the point. the franchise closed because Iceland’s monetary standing collapsed, not because McDonald’s sold rotten hamburgers. Iceland’s krona is worth zero, nada, nothing. companies can not exist in a country where it’s ‘dollar’ is worthless.
the real fear and problem here is that the US dollar is on the same course as Iceland’s krona: we have a govt deeply in debt, borrowing beyond repayment and printing presses churning out paper money is on full 24/7 throttle.
think the US dollar can’t collapse like Iceland’s krona?
HA!
