    On retirement: It has been easier for us pre-boomers and older boomers to plan for retirement. We got educated, bought our homes, brought up kids, when things were cheaper.
    I was reflecting that my husband got a free ride in grad school and the rent on our apartment then was $75.00. We saved half the income on his first job, because we had never had money before and had no idea how to spend it.
    But we learned! We never forgot how to save, luckily.
