A Very Cool Baby Boomer You’ve Never Heard Of: The National Archivist

National_archivistCan you imagine being a librarian or archivist and getting the best job in the country? Well, it’s happened to a man named David S. Ferriero, who has been confirmed as Archivist of the United States at the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA). Ferriero was nominated by President Obama in July.

Ferriero will become just the 10th archivist since NARA was established in 1934 by President Franklin Roosevelt. NARA is the nation’s primary record keeping organization, with holdings dating back to 1775. The U.S. Archivist is responsible for oversight of the activities of NARA, such as holding public records and releasing government documents, including presidential papers.
