I Heart Wax Lips
When I was a kid growing up in New Jersey, my Dad owned a store that sold newspapers, cigarettes, lottery tickets and…candy. So on Saturdays I’d load up on Milk Duds at Dad’s and then go across the street to the movie theater to see the matinee.
Although I had excellent access to candy all year round, Halloween was still my Number One favorite holiday. Why?
Wax lips!
Wanna know where wax lips come from? Well, the American Candy Company first produced them in the early 1900s. The company sold its wax candy division in 2002 to Concord Confections. Today the lips are produced in Selma, Alabama.

Was this store called “Quick stop groceries”?

I don’t remeber the name of it, but on one side of the packet was like a sugar stick and the other side of the packet was flavored powdered sugar–like Kool- Aid. You pretty much lick the stick and dip it in that powdery stuff. Do you know what I’m talking about?
Oh, and Pixie Sticks.

I liked those and the little was bottles with syrup in them.

Wax lips were fun, but I always liked Necco wafers.
