Yup, I Got an iPhone. Name Your Fave Apps

I bit the bullet. I went out and bought an iPhone 3Gs yesterday. I’ve owned it less than 24 hours and I’m already loving it. Every December for decades, I would go out and purchase a leather-bound appointment book. Instead, I am now tapping my appointments into my iPhone. I also still have a handwritten address book. I plan to slowly input that information into the iPhone. My greatest fear with the transition from paper to electronics was that I could lose all the information. But no problem. I can easily sync it with my Mac computer.

I’m finding that the iPhone is incredibly intuitive. I was fearful of a long learning curve, but that is not an issue at all.

Now, here’s where YOU come in. If you have an iPhone, let me know your, say, TOP THREE APPS (preferably free). I want to know what kind of fun you all are having out there.

Oh my gosh, there are so many.
Tweetie, Groceries, PS Mobile, Path Tracker, Dragon Dictation, Canabalt, Wurdle, Doodle Buddy, Instapaper, Kindle, WattPad, Stitch Minder, Air Mouse, Remote, FileMagnet, Dropbox, Flixster, Flickr
That should get you started. :)

Ocarina! Turns your iPhone into a musical instrument.

Can you post on your blog with it? We can’t with the Blackberry Curve. They still need to work that out. Also I can comment on some blogs with it and not others. I like being able to read email and Facebook and keep up with appointments and info. Don’t know about iphones, though.

Evernote, Epicurious, AppBox Pro (not free, but cheap and loaded with useful utilities), Sit-or-Squat (public restroom locator), Skype, Pandora, WordPress (lets you post to your WP blog from your iPhone). I will also second the recommendations for Dropbox and Wurdle.

Shazam, Evernote, Ping, Facebook, Gorillacam, Pandora. I am being restrained, but those are the top used apps (other than iphone basics) on my phone!

  7. Jeanne Says:

Lost It! (helps analyze diet and nutrients) Stanza (ereader) and any weather app I can find

Rhea-great topic! Welcome to the i world! I have so many apps that I love, so getting it down is hard, but here are the ones that really make a daily difference: epicurious (cooking), NYTimes, Fluent, and npr (news), AED (excellent dictionary), PhotoForge (camera & great photoediting), Snaptell & ShopSavvy (compare product prices), Scramble and Fuzzle (a guy’s gotta have fun, too), Classics (great books free or cheap), and Custom Sounds of Nature (meditation & relaxation). Shazam, which Cris noted, is what I used to dream of: hold it up to “listen” to a song on the radio and it will tell you the name and artist- way cool! Enjoy your new portal- it’s an incredibly creative and constantly-evolving platform.
