You’ll Never Guess Where the Safest Town in America Is
It’s not in the Dakotas or even Montana. The safest town in America is a little place in my home state of New Jersey.
Brick Township, New Jersey
I’m shocked. But the New York Times today published a big story on this town of 78,000, so it must be true. Among the facts:
“It has a slightly older, more female population than the rest of the country…”
Could this account for the safety factor? I bet it could.
The other towns in the top five are:
Amherst, N.Y.
Mission Viejo, Calif.
Troy, Mich.
Newton, Mass.

Geeze – “only” 6 robberies and 48 aggravated assaults last year? Hmmm – I think I’ll stay where I am.

Safe or not safe, it’s still New jersey

I read this report and I really wish they had told us more of the reasons particular towns are safe. I guess older and female is some explanation, though I’ve seen a lot of old broads that could get pretty violent. Seriously, someone should do further investigation to see if they have a superior law enforcement system, more activities for the citizen or whatever makes that town safe.

I was pretty surprised to hear this also. Of all the towns in NJ, I would’nt have guessed Brick to be the safest.

Mr. Fabulous: I’m from New Jersey but even I’m not gonna disagree with ya.
Laura: I know, I would have thought some place in the boonies would have won. Of course these studies are not exact science.
Jan: the NY Times story gives some of the study’s criteria, but I don’t think they surveyed every town in the U.S. Why did I even bother to quote this study!?!?!?!
