I Dare You To Stay at This Inn

lizzieborden.jpgA friend of mine is a street performer who has a gig down in the southern part of the state, near New Bedford, Massachusetts. I’m going to accompany her and we need a place to stay, so I came up with this:

The Lizzie Borden Inn, a bed & breakfast in Fall River.

You know who Lizzie Borden is, right? Well, let me refresh your memory. On August 4, 1892, a wealthy businessman and his wife were found brutally murdered in their Victorian home. Lizzie, the youngest daughter, was accused of the murder. At her trial, she was found not guilty.

Here is a look at the six guest rooms.

Even if you choose not to stay overnight, you can tour the place.

No way I’m staying there. I prefer to crap in toilets, not in my pants…

  2. MotherPie Says:

Don’t you wish we could apply today’s forensics to this case? I do.

  3. Rhea Says:

Oh, Mother Pie: Yes! I had never thought about that. One of the major points of the case is that blood was never found on Lizzie. Infinitessimal traces of blood could certainly be detected today and that would rule her in or out instantly.

I’ve never understood how Lizzie stayed such an important part of Americana after all these years. I mean, she really didn’t have the kind of legal representation she might expect today, but she was still found innocent. I’ll bet most people today think she did it.

no only would most people today think she did it, but i had no idea that she was found innocent…

Had this been more contemporary, I’ll bet Lizzy and O.J. could colaborate on a book.

I am one of those odd folks that would love to stay there. Adventure is good for the soul I say.

warped marketing perhasp because one can’t help but commenting on their odd choice of name – yet I cannot imagine staying there – nor would I look forward to staying with the kind of people who did so choose. Sometimes media converge doesn’t boost business

I think it would be cool to stay at Lizzie’s place! I lived near there for a while when I lived in Newport. Cool place.
