What are the barriers to making your house green?

I say, have a job you like. A person can live on $35,000 a year. They may have to chose a different area, but we all have that choice.

We may have choices, but we have fewer and fewer of them all the time. You may be able to live on $35,000, but could you live on $12,000? And what happens if you have a huge dental bill (say) or your car breaks down and needs expensive repairs? Most people I know are living way beyond their means but not willing to economize. Then, when there is some expense that’s no fun, like winterizing the house, they say they can’t afford it.
Well, I won’t worry about winterizing here in my all solar home in Hawaii. We have a reputiation for being a very expensive place to live, but not the way we do it. We plunked the money down for solar, and it’s paying for itself a lot faster than we thought it would, as rates continue to soar here.
