Do the words “nursing home” give you the willies? They should. Read more here at The Boomer Chronicles.

Boomer parents and grandparents can help children learn through play. Here are some gift ideas for the children in your life from So Baby Boomer.

Hot industry sectors to watch in 2007 lie in the transportation sector, particularly rail and vessel transport, according to Gen Plus: Reinventing 50 Plus. With 5,000 jobs to be filled in rail alone, 50-plussers may find themselves in demand. “I’ve been working on the railroad” may well become “I’m going to be working for the railroad.”

It may be time to change the definition of “middle age,” says LifeTwo. Believe it or not, a number of dictionaries consider you to be middle-aged if you are between “40 and 60.”

Micki at The Rearview Mirror was taken aback when “my stepfather introduced my mother and I to someone we hadn’t met before. The new acquaintance remarked that she thought we were sisters at first glance. Great flattery for my Mother, not so great for me.” The experience leads Micki to ponder looks and growing older.

I want to learn how to levitate.

  2. Rhea Says:

I thought that sounded cool, too. When you learn how, photograph yourself levitating and send it to me.

  3. Bice Says:

What age range actually constitutes a ‘boomer’? I’ll be 49 tomorrow.

  4. Rhea Says:

Bice, First, happy birthday. Second, you are a MAJOR baby boomer. Boomers are born between 1946 and 1964, so they are now 42 to 60. If you want my advice, read The Boomer Chronicles. It will ease you into the
whole devastation that is old age.

  5. Bice Says:

Oh! What a terrible word, “devatation.” I REFUSE to grow ‘old’ or up. I may have aged but I am not old, I don’t care what my daughters say. ::grin::

  6. Margaret Says:

I would like to look younger than I do, but don’t want to appear foolish trying to pretend I’m 30. (not that your mom would do that) And 50 is definitely middle something!

  7. rashenbo Says:

Hehehehe, those are some great links (even for the non-baby-boomers)!

  8. Wendy Says:

I’ve been just chuckling over the new Kaiser Permanente (a California HMO) ads — 50 is the new 30, 70 is the new 40! Oh my. I guess rates will be going up. And I guess I must be in my very early 30’s.

Hi rita the readers really seem to get a lot of laughs from my stories. My book a baby boomer’s look back also gets people remembering their own funny stories and experiences. I am partnering with the National Alzheimer’s asoiciation because they feel that this kind of looking back is beneficial as is all remebering . I have also made arrangements for proceeds from the book to go to the Association. Oh blogs are good also and fun There are so many aspects to the life that we knew ;and in a story you can include so much from the buildings we were housed in and schools we attended to size of families, cousins , friends, puberty spankings, funny jobs we had first kiss, rejection and more. It is also philosophical and toches on how history has mis represented the 60’s as only a time of prtesting a war and smoking pot. we from the 50’s and 60’s know the boom was almost everything but that. keep the blog going though it’s very good and entertaining.
